Greetings from In Harmony Cafe Sweets & More, where coffee and family have blended into an inspiring tale of resilience and togetherness. Meet Keyona and Tahlib Barnes, the driving force behind our family business, with their two wonderful kids, Kayllie and Caleb, lighting up our shop with their smiles.
Our story began in Detroit, MI, where we embarked on an IT consulting venture in 2012. As our business grew, so did our dreams, leading us to create In Harmony Cafe, a place of family-friendly entertainment, delectable food, and delightful coffee. In addition, Keyona's passion for baking vegan goods blossomed into pop-up shops and vendor shows.
However, life had its twists. An unforeseen accident left Tahlib injured, and the pandemic presented new challenges. But as a family, we rose above the hardships. Keyona's pop-up bake sale became the rebirth of In Harmony Cafe, fueled by love, determination, and prayers.
With our humble beginnings, we took over a coffee shop facility, diligently remodeling and repairing it, all while maintaining a tight budget. Today, we proudly offer our privately labeled coffee as a fundraiser, sharing the taste of our passion with our cherished guests.
Beyond coffee and sweets, our cafe has become a haven for growth and community. In our dining area, we host marriage seminars, strengthening relationships and families, with the belief that harmonious marriages build stronger communities.
The challenges of 2021 have taught us to lean on one another, reinforcing the bond of our "In Harmony" marriage. Moving forward, we aspire to use our space to inspire and encourage others to live life in harmony, cultivating a nurturing environment for individuals, couples, and families alike.
